The Town & Country Fire Department of Horseheads, New York is located in the Greater Southern Tier region of New York State and is the gateway to the Wine Country of the Finger Lakes. The Department is a private corporation which provides contract fire protection services to sections of the Town of Horseheads, Big Flats, and Veteran. We operate out of two stations. We proudly protect more than 8500 people living in an area of more than 60 square miles. From the shopping areas of Southern Tier Crossings and the Arnot Mall, to manufacturing facilities like Schwe![]() izer Aircraft, the increased housing boom, and the ever so increasing amount of traffic on Interstate-86 and State Route’s 13 and 14, the district has become very diverse and full of activity.
Within our Department, our membership consists of 56 active volunteer who serve the community with pride and passion. Of the 56 active members, 44 are certified interior firefighters and 23 are certified to a Certified First Responder/EMT level. We also employ Three Full-time and several Part-time Station Attendants and a part-time Mechanic to support the Departments operations 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week, 365 Days per year. The Department in any given year can run as many as 600 calls which include: Fire, EMS, Motor Vehicle Accidents, and Haz-Mat Incidents.
